Club Rules

1.   CONSTITUTION AND RULES

  The club shall be called Bradbourne Carriage Driving Club and shall exist for the purpose of:

 

  a) The encouragement and enjoyment of carriage driving

  b) To promote the safe use of horses, ponies and other driven animals

  c) To help prevent the misuse of horses, ponies and other animals driven in harness.

2. MEMBERSHIP

  a) There shall be three types of membership:

Single:   A single person above 18 years.

Family:  A husband and/or wife and any children of theirs as shall not have reached their 18th birthday prior to the first day of November each year.

Junior:  A person between fourteen and under 18 years of age who is not covered by family membership.

  b) No one under the age of 18, be they family or junior member, will be eligible to vote at any AGM/EGM, or other meeting of the club.

   c) A member shall be entitled to the following:

  I. To cast a vote at any AG/EGM of the club with the exception of under 18 year old.

  II. To enter any function run by the club subject to payment of entrance fee (if levied).

  III. To wear the club badge

  IV. To invite guests to any social function of the Club

3. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND THE CLUB YEAR

 

  a) Subscriptions shall be such a sum as the club determines at its AGM

  b) The subscriptions shall be paid on or before the 1st day of January in each year and in default membership shall lapse until such time as the subscriptions shall have been paid.

  c) The clubs year shall commence on the 1st day of November in each year.

  d) The clubs financial year shall commence on the 1st day of November each year.

4. MEETINGS 

  a) The AGM of Bradbourne Carriage Driving Club will take place no later than 20th December each year.

  b) An EGM may be called by the Committee as the Committee may consider expedient. Any FIFTEEN or more members may, by written request, require the Committee to call an EGM. The notice of the meeting and terms of resolution(s) proposed for discussion shall be sent to the members at least 14 days prior to the meeting.

  c) The quorum for any Committee meeting shall be not less than five of which at least two shall be officers of the club and one of whom shall be either the Chairman or Vice-Chairman.

5. COMMITTEE

  a) The Committee shall exist of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and not more than five other members

  b) The Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall be nominated from serving members of the Committee and will be elected annually by the Committee at the first committee meeting following the AGM/EGM.

  c) The Treasurer and Secretary shall be nominated from members of the Club and be elected annually at the AGM/EGM by members of the Club.

  d) A minimum of one third of the committee members shall stand down or offer themselves for re-election annually at the AGM. No committee member shall serve for more than three consecutive years without standing for re-election.

  e) Nominations for the Committee shall be delivered to the Secretary at least 14 days prior to the AGM.

  f) Elections shall be by ballot which shall be scrutinised by two club members elected by the members of the AGM

6. POWERS OF COMMITTEE

  a) The committee shall have full power to administer all monies belonging to the club and employ such monies as they see fit for the benefit of the club as a whole.

   b) The committee shall have the right to refuse or withdraw membership to the club.

  c) The committee shall have the power to require any member to leave an event organised by Bradbourne Carriage Driving Club if, in the opinion of two or members of the committee, the safety of the members and/or the general public is in any way endangered, or the horse, pony or other driven animal is suffering distress or misuse.

  d) The committee's decision on all matters with which they are competent to deal under these rules shall be final.

  e) The committee shall have the power to set up sub-committees for specific designated purposes, but any decisions taken by such sub-committees must be ratified by the main Committee before any action is taken.

7. FINANCE

  a) The accounts for the previous financial year shall be audited and presented to the members of the club at the AGM.

  b) An independent auditor shall be appointed and approved at the AGM.

  c) In the event of the club being dissolved, the assets of the club shall be transferred to a known charity to be decided at the final committee meeting of the club.

8. GENERAL

  a) Any member of the Club who considers any member of the committee to be in breach of the Club's constitutions and rules shall have the right to require a meeting of the committee at which the Chairman or Vice-Chairman and a minimum of four committee members shall be present. The request for such a meeting shall be made to the Secretary who shall call a meeting of the committee as soon as is practicable after receiving such a written request. The member shall be entitled to be accompanied by another member of the club.

  b) Any resolution proposing an alteration to club's constitution and rules shall be given in writing at least 21 days prior to the AGM/EGM.
